The seminar was inaugurated by Shri PBO Warjri (Retired IAS), Chief Information Commissioner of Meghalaya. The Chief Guest stressed on the on the importance of language as the most important component of culture.
In the traditional religion of the Khasi, we see the existence of various rukom (religious rites). There are these rukom (rites) such as ‘Shat Pylleng’, ‘sacrifice of the cock’ and ‘Ka Suit Ka Shor’, and jingngeit (belief) which are more or less the same throughout the Khasi society.
In the Gazetteres of the Garo hills district, it is recorded that the Garos originally came from Tibet and settled in Koch Behar for about 400 year. From Koch Behar, the Garos moved to Rangamati in Goalpara district of lower Assam (Presently Bongaigaon District). They wandered eastwards up the Brahmaputra valley and moved on to the bank of Manas River, Jugighopa (Bongaigaon District), Garomari (Goalpara)

On 10th August 2019, the Bhuyan’s troupe Class Act and the Social Activities Committee of Sankardev College have taken upon themselves the responsibility to raise the society’s awareness against child abuse and justice through a play “Tender Tears” staged at Laban sport club indoor stadium.
Our Founding Principal, Shri Raj Nath Upadhyay left us for his heavenly abode on the 31st July 2019 at the age of 83. A condolence meeting was held on 1st August College.
Shri R. N. Upadhyay joined SKDC as a founding Principal on 15th July 1963. With its bare facilities, education at SKDC began under his leadership.
